London, 17 September 2026. Gray Mines today announced a partnership with a regional lender to bring open banking to small businesses that traditional banks have struggled to serve.

Under the agreement, Gray Mines engineers will work inside the lender's digital team to build account opening, lending and payments on a single platform.

What the partnership covers

  • Accounts that open in minutes, verified from a phone.
  • Lending decisions drawn from real trading history, with the business's consent.
  • Payments that settle in seconds and reconcile themselves.
“For millions of small businesses, the first question a bank asks is where they are based. This partnership starts from a better one: how well does the business actually trade?”
Sana Qureshi, Head of Partnerships, Gray Mines
“We didn't want a vendor. We wanted a team that would sit on our side of the table and stay there.”

Next steps

The first businesses join a pilot this autumn, with a wider launch planned for early 2027.
